Reportage is a more modern and fashionable style of photography that consumers are now demanding for their wedding photographs. There are many misconceptions regarding reportage and how it is achieved. Reportage in the true sense is to let the subject become unaware of the camera and then foresee any photography opportunities as they unravel. Unfortunately this can be a lengthy, costly process and in some cases can result in less than satisfactory coverage.
Time is a luxury that you do not have when shooting a Wedding situation. This is why I prefer to shoot in pairs if customers have requested reportage photography. One photographer will take lead with the traditional style photography and setting up of standard wedding poses as well as some more creative ones as well.
This provides the second the opportunity to shoot freely with all the attention on the other photographer. It is then possible to take lots of great stylish reportage shots which have the posed foundation without the formal look and feel. I get a great deal of pleasure when we capture a string of fantastic shots and the customers are extremely pleased with my results.
